🚧 Construction Project 🚧

On July 27, 2022 the New York State hosted a public meeting regarding a paving project in the Village of Manlius for Routes 92 & 173. The project has already begun as two drainage areas on Fayette St are under construction. The drainage grates in front of SnoTop and on the corner of Fayette St and Seneca St are being fixed before the paving project starts.

The rest of the paving project will begin Spring 2023 and be completed by the end of 2023.

Additional information regarding the project is included in the photo.

[5:30 AM MON AUG 8]
Heat illnesses can increase significantly when it is hot & humid for several consecutive days - don't let your guard down today. Remain well-hydrated and take precautions.

Also... scattered hit-or-miss thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and especially Tuesday as a front moves through the region. While some spots will get missed, locally heavy rainfall and isolated flash flooding will be possible. Urban areas, and locations that have already had recent heavy rain, will be more prone.

Cooler temperatures and MUCH lower humidity on the way later this week. Forecast details: Enter city or zip into the searchbox + click go at www.weather.gov/bgm or mobile.weather.gov

Manlius Fire and EMS

This past Friday, Lieutenant Chris Halliday worked his last shift as a full time employee of the Manlius fire department. Below is the farewell message read during his final shift.

Fire control with a Signal 59 for Manlius Lt. Chris Halliday. Lt. Halliday is working his last shift today after 22 and a half years of service with the Manlius Fire Department. Chris started his time in the fire service as a volunteer with the Manlius Fire Department before getting hired as a firefighter/paramedic in January of 2000.

Chris has been instrumental in the development and delivery of the industry leading public education program that the Manlius and Fayetteville Fire departments have delivered over the past 15 plus years including programs like Every 15 minutes, Junior firefighter camp and many others. In early 2008 Chris was promoted to Lieutenant and spent the rest of his career being a leader in our department.

Chris spent much of his time ensuring that our newer members knew the history of our department and just as much time ensuring that our older members didn’t repeat the past.

Chris, as this chapter comes to a close, we hope you enjoy your time at camp with Angela, and have a long and happy retirement.

Chris, we thank you for your service and wish you a long and healthy retirement.
